Overview

The Unitary Patent is a single patent issued by the European Patent office (EPO) which has effect in all EU Member States that ratify the UPC Agreement.

The UPC exclusively governs disputes concerning Unitary Patents (and related Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs)). It also has jurisdiction over existing and future classic European Patents subject to a right to opt them out from the UPC’s jurisdiction for a transitional period.
