Join us for an in conversation session with Penny Mordaunt, hosted by Emily Nicholson.
Penny is a former British Conservative politician who served as Lord President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons from 2022 to 2024. She was the MP for Portsmouth North from 2010 to 2024 and ran twice for the Conservative party leadership, losing to Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak. Her interest in politics was sparked by her experiences working in hospitals and orphanages in Romania following the 1989 revolution.
In this session, Penny will discuss a range of topics, including the publicity surrounding her role in the coronation, her groundbreaking tenure as the first female Defence Secretary, and the challenges she faced as a female MP. The conversation will also explore gender issues from her time as Minister for Women and Equalities, her leadership bids, future political ambition and her views on the current political climate.
