We have long been committed to ensuring and promoting equality and diversity. It is now more than 50 years since our founder Lord Mishcon sat on the Wolfenden Committee, the committee that recommended homosexual behaviour between consenting adults in private no longer be a criminal offence. Its recommendations eventually led to the Sexual Offences Act 1967.
We understand that our LGBTQIA+ clients often have unique legal needs, whether in their professional, personal or private lives. Consequently, our lawyers offer a range of services, from immigration, employment, family and wealth structuring, through to reputation protection and cyber security.
We also believe in supporting and giving back to the LGBTQIA+ community. More than a decade ago, we launched Pink Law in conjunction with the Legal Advice Centre of the School of Law at Queen Mary, University of London. Our lawyers attend the centre on a monthly basis to supervise law students, who in turn advise clients on legal issues including civil partnership formation and dissolution, cohabitation and immigration. We have also worked with Queen Mary and leading LGBTQIA+ campaigning organisation, Stonewall, to produce information leaflets on civil partnerships, gay fatherhood and employment discrimination.
We partner with the British Film Institute (BFI) to support its LGBTQIA+ film festival, BFI Flare, staged annually in March in London.
We have an active and inclusive LGBTQIA+ Pride network, hosting regular events for clients, contacts and colleagues. To be added to our mailing list, please contact Michael Clarke.
