Emma Woollcott and Isabella Piasecka have co-written a piece for People Management Magazine, outlining how businesses can lessen the threats posed by employees to their reputations.
They wrote: "The best reputation protection is proactive; it is about understanding and minimising vulnerabilities. Insider risk can feel almost more uncomfortable – the 'enemy within' – than the thought of dealing with a flood. But it pays in so many ways to make the long-term investment: to articulate your core values and assess all your decisions, internal and external, against them; to establish boundaries and protocols and ensure they are understood; and to monitor and review your progress.
"Many, if not all, reputational crises stem from failings that are homegrown. Of course, scan the horizon, but make sure that you understand, and can justify, how you behave and manage risks internally as well."
