Following up on its article 'Dark downside of fashion for DNA analysis', Mishcon de Reya Data Protection Advisor Jon Baines features in The Times Letters to the Editor. Jon wrote:
Sir, Libby Purves’s interesting piece on negative aspects of private DNA tests (“Dark downside of fashion for DNA analysis”, comment, Oct 28) omits two key concerns: namely, that such testing reveals extraordinarily sensitive information but is almost entirely unregulated. Nothing is more intimate or integral to an individual’s identity than their DNA, and, as the history of the 20th century shows us, nothing is more dangerous in the wrong or negligent hands than a record of this most sensitive data.
