Antonia Felix, Partner at Mishcon de Reya spoke to Tatler about the legal issues surrounding adoption.
She said: "Adopting a child can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience and offers an alternative pathway for people hoping to bring a child into their family."
Antonia also commented that the process of adoption differs depending on the circumstances, for example, whether you want to adopt from overseas or closer to home.
If an adoption order is made, it transfers parental responsibility from the child's birth parents to the adoptive parents, except for a stepparent adoption where parental responsibility is shared with the birth parent(s).
