According to new research conducted by Law.Com, Mishcon de Reya has ranked fifth in a survey of all U.K. law firms for the number of female equity partners.
The research was based on diversity surveys completed by 68 firms, and was designed to expose the inequality that still exists at the very top level of law firms. While all 68 firms provided data for their overall U.K. partnership gender split, only 47 provided data relating to their U.K. equity partnership gender split. On average across those 47 firms, women made up 23% of the equity partnership.
At Mishcon de Reya women make up 33.7% of the equity partnership.
Joanna Blackburn and Vanessa Dewhurst, Partners and co-chairs of Mishcon de Reya's equity, diversity and inclusion committee said; "Whilst it feels good to make this list and to know we are moving in the right direction, the fact remains that the pace of change is too slow in the legal industry. There needs to be a sustained and strong collective effort to improve diversity of all kinds in law firms. We look forward to seeing next year's list and an even greater proportion of women in senior leadership positions in law."
