Laura Odlind, a Partner in the Property Litigation Group, is joined by Philip Rainey QC of Tanfield Chambers for an in-depth analysis of the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Bill, which is currently making its way through Parliament.
The Bill, as currently drafted, applies to residential long leases of houses and flats, granted for a premium, and restricts ground rent to a peppercorn (which is effectively zero).
In this podcast, Laura Odlind and Philip discuss the scope of the Bill, including how it affects existing leases and the penalties for breaching its provisions, and what landlords and tenants should do to prepare ahead of the Act coming into force.
