Sally discussed the growing demand for sustainable products and the response of retailers. While many brands are looking to create recognised standards and join programmes that certify commitments to sustainability, accusations of “greenwashing” in the industry remain.
She also spoke about the growth of the metaverse and the commercial opportunities it presents for driving revenue, advertising opportunities and other ways to connect with consumers.
In addition, Sally explained the issues of sponsored posts by online influencers and celebrities potentially misleading consumers – and how Governments are increasingly moving to publish guidelines demanding that influencers disclose any financial arrangements or sponsorships.
