Tabassum Khan is a Managing Associate in the Tax Litigation and Dispute Resolution team.
Since joining Mishcon de Reya LLP in March 2018, Tabassum has advised high-net worth individuals, corporate companies and public bodies in the Tribunal and High Court. She has advised clients in litigation, alternative dispute resolution and advisory work in both direct and indirect tax.
Tabassum has experience of advising on multi-million pound commercial disputes across the following sectors: commercial litigation; tax litigation; insolvency and corporate crime. She has recently advised clients in the education, food and drink, energy, financial services and technology sectors.
Key experience
- Advising sole shareholder and director of a group of companies, defending claims of purported declarations of trust and incorrect company accounts and defending claims of breach of trust and fiduciary duties.
- Advising a claimant in proceedings commenced against a major top 5 banking corporation in respect of various financial products that were mis-sold, allegations of fraudulent misrepresentations amount to a consequential loss exceeding £50 million.
- Advising on appeals to the First-tier Tax Tribunal and Upper-tier Tribunal in respect of indirect tax matters such as underpayments of input VAT, defending penalty liability notices and claims of dishonest behaviour.
- Acting for various traders against allegations of missing trader intra-community fraud (MTIC fraud)
