Mishcon de Reya's market leading construction team has supported Brookfield Properties by negotiating all the construction documentation required, up to the stage of obtaining approval from the City of London’s Planning Committee, for its plans to build a 54-storey office tower at 99 Bishopsgate.
The scheme is expected to deliver over 1 million sq ft of best-in-class office space – contributing 8.3% of the additional office space required by the City by 2040 – along with more than 60,000 sq ft of vibrant public and cultural amenities. It will significantly contribute to the community by way of stimulating the local economy through extensive job creation.
Of note is Brookfield Properties’ strong commitment to sustainability and occupier wellbeing. This commitment is evident in the scheme's prioritisation of adaptive reuse and retention of existing foundations to reduce embodied carbon, as well as the inclusion of extensive vertical gardens and urban greening to enhance the experience of employees and visitors. These efforts align with the commercial real estate sector's increasing focus on the environment and sustainability.
Justine Ayto, Partner in Mishcon de Reya's Non-Contentious Construction team said: "Congratulations to all involved so far and we look forward to supporting Brookfield Properties into the construction phase of the project (and beyond) to bring this truly exciting addition to the City of London's skyline into realisation."
The Mishcon de Reya team was led by Justine Ayto with assistance from William Chung and Charles Jordan.
