Mishcon de Reya advises Fusion Group on acquisition at Brent Cross Town

Posted on 27 August 2024

Mishcon de Reya's Real Estate team has acted for Fusion Group (one of the largest privately-owned student accommodation developers and operators in the UK, in joint venture with long-time partner Cheyne Capital) on the acquisition and proposed development of a second plot within the new Brent Cross Town (BXT). The £275 million GDV Fusion scheme, designed by PRP, will deliver approximately 650 student beds and associated amenities.

The Real Estate team first acted for Fusion on the acquisition and development of Plot 25 at BXT  in October 2021. Plot 25 is a 662 bed scheme and it is expected to complete in Q2 2025. This was the first plot to be sold within BXT, with the wider regeneration scheme being developed in a joint venture between the London Borough of Barnet and Related Argent. Brent Cross Town is a 180-acre, £8bn mixed-use town development in north London which, when complete, will comprise 6,700 new homes of a variety of tenures, workspace for 25,000 people, schools, a high street, leisure spaces and over 50 acres of parks and playing fields. The new Brent Cross West station also connects the area to King's Cross in 12 minutes.

The Real Estate team was led by Ed Hughes-Power, assisted by Giovanni Castronovo, together with Martyn Hanmore in Planning and Jonathan Legg and Isabella Adams in Tax.

At Mishcon de Reya, we have developed an exciting and growing practice in the alternative residential market and we are regarded as one of the leading law firms for the build to rent (BTR), student accommodation, co-living and senior living sectors.
