Mishcon de Reya shortlisted for Pro Bono and Sustainability initiatives at The Lawyer Awards 2022

Posted on 4 May 2022

We are excited to have been shortlisted for two initiatives at The Lawyer Awards 2022, which takes place on 21 June 2022.

Greener Litigation has been shortlisted for the Sustainability Initiative award and a group of solicitors' firms and barristers' chambers working to secure UK visas for Afghan judges and their families has been shortlisted for the Pro Bono Initiative of the Year Award.

About the Awards

The Lawyer Awards highlight the pioneering and innovative achievements of law firms, legal providers and in-house legal teams across the European legal industry. The full shortlist is now available to view.

Sustainability Initiative

The Sustainability Initiative is a new category at this year’s Lawyer Awards, highlighting the important work that organisations are undertaking to have a positive impact on the wider world.

Greener Litigation is a collective of solicitors' firms, barristers' chambers and other disputes professionals, convened and chaired by Mishcon de Reya, actively committed to reducing the environmental impact of dispute resolution and litigation conducted in the courts of England and Wales.

The organisations involved are signed up to the Greener Litigation Pledge, a commitment to reduce the environmental impact of dispute resolution. The initiative is also one of the actions set out in Mishcon de Reya’s Climate Change Strategy

Pro Bono Initiative of the Year

Together with Eversheds Sutherland, Wilsons Solicitors and Garden Court Chambers, Mishcon de Reya has been part of a pro bono initiative to assist members of the Afghan judiciary and legal profession to secure UK visas.

This includes collectively issuing six judicial reviews against the Government to gain visas for female Afghan judges, many of whom have been forced into hiding since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021.
