Emma Woolcott, Partner and Head of the Reputation Protection and Crisis Management team , has contributed to an article for Tatler discussing the real-life risks children face online today as the UK’s new Online Safety Act comes into force.
Emma wrote: "On the face of it, the Online Safety Act (OSA) and Ofcom are alive not just to the scale and scope of gender-based harms, but also the power of algorithms to amplify content and feed it to those who are most vulnerable. The Act very clearly aims to regulate systems rather than content - to change the way in which platforms, particularly the most powerful, operate. It makes platforms more responsible for users' safety.”
