Managing Associate and Knowledge Lawyer Isabella Piasecka has made two videos on the Online Safety Act 2023 (OSA) for Thomson Reuters, covering the Act, the timetable for its implementation, and practical tips for businesses on how they can comply.
The first video overviews the OSA, and explains what legal avenues are introduced by the OSA and how it relates to the UK data protection regime and the EU Digital Services Act. Finally, it explains the timetable for implementation.
The second video provides more detail on the OSA, explaining what services will fall within scope of the OSA, and which types of content the OSA regulates and what is exempt. It also discusses how services will have to conduct an illegal harms risk assessment and put in place measures to protect users from harm. Finally, it provides tips on the steps businesses can take as they prepare to comply.
