Those who work in or around carbon intensive industries have a particular need to act in order to avert the worst implications of climate change. On the whole, the construction industry has grasped the enormity of the task and is making significant progress. That said, the companies and individuals that are most focused on the road to net zero tend to be those based and operating in major urban areas.
Some other problems associated with greening construction are particularly knotty. In theory, increased recycling of construction materials should be simple however due to issues such as insufficient performance data and rigorous testing regimes, it can presently be more difficult to recycle than buying new.
