Welcome to our first issue of Inside Cambridge – our publication for readers who are as passionate about innovation and community as we are.
Reflecting on the merger between Taylor Vinters and Mishcon de Reya, which now feels like a familiar chapter from over a year ago, we can proudly say that the dust has settled. Today, we stand united in our beautiful new office, nestled in the heart of Cambridge, a city that continues to be a beacon of innovation and intellectual prowess. And, in light of our merger, as Mishcon Cambridge we have a far broader and deeper offering of both legal and non-legal services than previously, whether you need company law advice, regulatory input, big ticket litigation, next level private wealth services or cybersecurity insight. We have truly levelled up our business for the benefit of our clients.
Cambridge has always been a unique hub of innovation, a place where ideas flourish and boundaries are pushed. It is this spirit of discovery and collaboration that inspired us to create a publication dedicated to the heart of this vibrant community. After engaging in key conversations, both internally among our teams and externally with our partners and the wider community, we realised the potential of a Cambridge-centric publication. 'Inside Cambridge' is our endeavour to join the dots, to weave together the narratives of innovation, growth, and community that define this extraordinary place.
In this issue, we delve into the details of mergers and acquisitions with insights from our M&A Hub, and we examine the changing dynamics of flexible working, including an article case study where the denial of a request for full-time remote work was justified. We take look closer look at Tech and Life-Sciences businesses and explore the possibility of relocating global R&D talent to the UK and feature a recent episode of the Cambridge Tech Podcast, which spotlights Chris Keen, a Partner in our Emerging Companies team.
Additionally, we gain perspective from Gareth Dickson's contributions to The FinTech Times and cast a light on Mishcon de Reya's strategic acquisition of Flex Legal. Moreover, Emma Woollcott tackles the reputational risks that trailblazers encounter, underscoring the challenges and obligations that come with being a leader in innovation.
Each article, podcast and feature in 'Inside Cambridge' is carefully curated to connect the dots between the diverse elements that make up our vibrant community. We invite you to discover, to engage, and to connect with the contents of our first issue.
Thank you for reading our first issue of Inside Cambridge. Our next publication will include key takeaways from our annual IP audit, a new guide covering key reforms relevant to the retail sector and relevant news, articles, podcasts and events across the firm.
