Welcome to the second issue of Inside Oxford. Our latest publication delves deeper into the rich tapestry of Oxford's legal and academic ecosystem, sharing insights that mirror the city's vibrant landscape.
In a few months' time it will be thirty years since I moved from the city to join a firm in Oxford. That firm was one of the first to have a strong reputation for specialising in intellectual property. I did not imagine at that time that I would spend so many years in this wonderful city, but as I set out in my personal spotlight, I quickly developed an appreciation of the incredible innovation that is happening in and around this wonderful city, and Oxford's enduring legacy of nurturing talent and fostering groundbreaking research. Over the years my colleagues and I have been fortunate to work with so many inspirational innovators and entrepreneurs, and to see world-changing innovations thrive. It is this spirit of intellectual pursuit and collaboration that makes doing what we do in Oxford so interesting and exciting, and it is that spirit that we at Mishcon de Reya aim to embody in the way we collaborate with our clients and the wider community.
In this issue we explore the new horizons following the sale of a family business, and the subsequent chapters that unfold for the family. Our 'Oxford Spotlight' shines on Attilio Leccisotti, a partner specialising in venture and growth capital fundraisings, particularly for university spin-out companies. We also introduce the Oxford+ podcast, featuring Marcus Stuttard of AIM at the London Stock Exchange, discussing access to finance for growth companies. Additionally, we navigate the AI landscape, offering guidance for charities on opportunities, risks, and compliance.
Our commitment to innovation is further exemplified by Mishcon REGULATE, a product designed to simplify the complexities of regulation. We also celebrate our advisory role in FluoRok's successful £7.7 million fundraising, a milestone for the Oxford-based spinout company. The Planning Reform Hub and our Guide to Group Actions provide invaluable resources for staying abreast of legal developments, while our Women in Wealth hub addresses issues pertinent to female wealth holders.
