Partner and Head of Insolvency Group Danny Davis has commented in CityAM on the possibility of the Worcester Warriors' land deals being overturned, should the club enter administration.
The West Midlands rugby club has confirmed talks with HMRC after receiving a wind-up petition over unpaid tax. The two owners are also facing questions over attempts to sell plots of land, including the stadium car park and several training pitches.
Danny said, "The timing of the deal with the car park looks worthy of investigation, theoretically, if the company enters liquidation or administration, and it would be pretty unusual to sell just that small parcel of land in the teeth of a winding-up petition…
"It is open to an administrator to say, ‘that’s a transaction that should be investigated’. It’s not uncommon to see these things get overturned.”
