Join us for this session with Thangam Debbonaire MP, who has served as the Shadow Secretary for Culture, Media and Sport since September 2023. Thangam became the Labour MP for the Bristol West constituency in May 2015, succeeding a Liberal Democrat majority.
In her political career, Thangam has held significant roles such as the Shadow Secretary of State for Housing and Homelessness and the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons. She views culture, media, and sport as not only sources of enjoyment and community, but also as important contributors to the tax revenues that support our public services.
Before entering politics, Thangam was a professional cellist and spent 25 years working towards ending domestic violence.
During the event, Thangam will discuss her career, share her thoughts on the upcoming election, and take questions from the audience.
