Emily Nicholson has provided commentary for the BBC on the Supreme Court judgment in The Manchester Ship Canal Company Ltd v United Utilities Water Ltd. Discussing the judgment where the Supreme Court ruled that the Manchester Ship Canal Company is able to sue United Utilities over the release of raw sewage into the canal, Emily said, "If millions of copycat claims then spring up, that will be a reflection of the utility companies' failures rather than the failure of the courts or legal system." She also said that those affected by any failures now at least have a route to seek redress.
