Mishcon de Reya has advised Watkin Jones (in partnership with Lacuna Developments) in relation to the forward funding of a new mixed tenure BTR scheme in Belfast. Further to securing institutional investment, Loft Lines will deliver 778 new, sustainable homes in the Titanic Quarter.
In addition to advising on the recent forward funding, Mishcon de Reya also advised on the initial acquisition for the development.
The Mishcon de Reya team was led by Ed Hughes-Power (Partner, Real Estate) and Todd Wu (Partner, Real Estate), with assistance from Simon Hunter (Partner, Construction), William Chung (Managing Associate, Construction), David Kanter (Managing Associate, Real Estate), Martyn Hanmore (Consultant, Planning), and Jonathan Legg (Partner, Real Estate Tax).
Ed Hughes-Power said: "The Titanic Quarter is one of Europe's largest waterfront regeneration projects. We are delighted to have worked with the team at Watkin Jones on their sustainable development which will bring significant benefit to the city of Belfast and create a bustling, new urban community. At Mishcon de Reya, we have developed an exciting and growing practice in the alternative residential market and we are regarded as one of the leading law firms for the build to rent (BTR), student accommodation and senior living sectors."
Todd Wu added: "This deal underlines the continued attractiveness of BTR to investors and hopefully signals the long-awaited re-opening of the forward funding market. It is also illustrative of Mishcon de Reya's deep expertise in the alternative residential space, and our track record of advising on market leading deals in the sector."
