In the latest Property Week blog, Susan Freeman discusses her interview with Chelsfield's Head of Retail Rebeca Guzman Vidal, who shared some insights into why experiences, reimagining, community, placemaking and culture are going to be crucial to the future of retail and our high streets. Listen to the podcast here.
Susan also considers the wide variety of current strategies to combat the retail demise, a downturn further exasperated by COVID-19. Westminster Council have unveiled plans for 'Marble Arch Hill', a 82 ft, a scaffolded structure, decorated with grass and trees overlooking Marble Arch. Whereas Stockton-on-Tees have plans to shrink the town’s oversupply of retail space by demolishing a large shopping centre, with one of the many benefits of this being it will open the town up to face the river.
