Welcome to the second issue of Inside Cambridge! As we continue to navigate the evolving legal landscape of Cambridge, we remain committed to providing insights that resonate with the dynamism of our surroundings.

Cambridge, with its blend of academic excellence and pioneering enterprise, has always been a place close to my heart. In my personal spotlight, I shared my admiration for the city's unique ability to foster growth and encourage collaboration. It is this very ethos that we strive to reflect in our work at Mishcon de Reya, and it is what makes our presence here in Cambridge so exciting.

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting the Cambridge Tech Showcase, an event that truly captured the vibrancy of our local tech community. It was a fantastic afternoon and evening, filled with insightful discussions and networking opportunities. We are already looking forward to next year's event with great anticipation.

In this issue, we offer a snapshot of the latest legal and business insights. From pioneering 'AI compliance by design' training to the strategic considerations behind choosing social ventures over charities, we cover the spectrum of innovation. Our 'Cambridge Spotlight' series provides a look at our legal experts that call Cambridge home, while Greener Litigation's toolkit represents our commitment to sustainability. We feature an update from the Competition Law team, who have been a fantastic addition to our Cambridge offering. Charlie Fletcher shares his insights on working with corporate finance advisors on M&A deals and we dissect the implications of the new VAT on private school fees. Our IP Annual Review 2024 and preparation for DORA round off this issue's focus on the evolving legal framework.

Each article, podcast, and feature in Inside Cambridge has been selected to connect the dots between the diverse elements that make up our vibrant community. We invite you to discover, to engage, and to connect with the contents of our second issue.

Working with corporate finance advisors on M&A deals

Some of the most successful deals we work on in our M&A team at Mishcon de Reya involve early engagement by the company of an experienced and strategically focussed external corporate finance advisor. They can bring genuine value by developing a sound marketing narrative and - with the lawyers - ensuring the smooth running of the deal process.
