Daniel is a partner in the Corporate department, with a wealth of experience in guiding clients through complex corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, business sales, joint ventures, fundraisings, and corporate restructures.
Daniel's clients include a variety of business types including business owners, equity investors and large corporates across a wide range of sectors but with a particular focus on the corporate and commercial aspects of corporate real estate transactions; financial technology, software and e-commerce; hospitality & retail and oil and mining.
In the Corporate real estate sector Daniel acts for some of the biggest real estate investment funds in the UK including Brookfield, Shaftesbury Capital, Delancey, PGIM Real Estate and Equites Investment Fund. More recently, in addition to his existing practice, Daniel has advised clients in the storage, distributions, and logistics sectors on sale and acquisitions, joint ventures but also more widely on commercial issues relevant to those businesses.
Daniel has a wealth of experience handling transactions both in the UK and cross border.
Daniel is also a mentor for the start-ups taking part in MDR Lab offering mentoring, guidance and legal advice for early-stage tech companies.
Key Experience
- Advising Brookfield on the £330m purchase of seven UK retail park sites from Hammerson plc, and also on its £180m acquisition of a 1.5m sqft logistics portfolio from Davidson Kempner Capital Management, and the related joint venture arrangements with Copley Point Capital.
- Advising Shaftesbury Capital on its £75.1m acquisition of the Lothbury Covent Garden Unit Trust.
- Advising specialist student accommodation provider Fusion Students on numerous transactions, including on the circa £315 million sale of their 'Kinetic portfolio' comprising four purpose-built student accommodation assets to a US private equity investor. Most recently, Daniel advised in connection with the acquisition of a site in Brent Cross – Fusion's first London development – which will be the location of a new £210 million student accommodation scheme forming part of Related Argent's new Brent Cross Town.
- Advised Delancey on the acquisition and connected joint venture of a cold storage and logistics business.
- Advised the sellers of Devitt Insurance, the UK's leading motorhome and top-four motorcycle insurance broker, on its sale to Gallagher.
- Advised Advanced Computer Software Group Limited on its acquisition of Clear Review and separate acquisition of Cloud Trade Technologies Limited.
- Advised Henley Investment Management on a number of joint ventures, acquisitions and internal restructures.
- Advising Taurus Investment Holdings Limited, a US based real estate private equity firm, on entry into three separate joint ventures. Two of these are with Cole Waterhouse in relation to Eda, an award winning Build to Rent "BtR" development in Salford Quays; and Upper Trinity Street, a large mixed use development site in Digbeth, Birmingham. The third is with W.RE in relation to a new office development in Parsons Green, London.
- Advising Equites Property Fund on the corporate acquisition and sale and connected joint venture in respect of numerous sites in the UK to be developed into a new warehouse and distribution centres.
- Advised Artlogic, a leader in software solutions for art galleries, collectors, and artists, on its strategic investment from Cove Hill Partners a US based, private equity firm.
- Advised Tiziana Life Sciences in the AIM reverse takeover to acquire Tiziana Pharma Limited, a developer of novel therapeutics for cancer including metastatic cancers.
- Acting for Canouan Development Corporation Limited in relation to the buyout of a joint venture partner and new joint venture arrangements relating to the ownership and development of the Island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
- Advised Israeli listed company Frutarom Industries Limited on numerous acquisitions, including New Zealand based Taura Natural Ingredients for $70 million
- Advising selling shareholders on the buy-out of Zedra backed by Corsair Capital.
- Advising Redrice Ventures on a number of initial and follow-on investments into seed/series A state businesses.
