Kavan Bakhda is a Partner in the Fraud Group, part of the Dispute Resolution department.

Kavan has worked on a number of high-profile and precedent-setting cases, representing clients across a range of complex disputes. His experience includes advising three-time IndyCar champion Álex Palou in a claim brought by McLaren—recognised by The Lawyer as one of the Top 20 Cases for 2025—as well as representing global insurance companies and high net worth individuals in high-stakes litigation.

Kavan has particular expertise in sports disputes, having advised leading figures in Formula 1, IndyCar and football on contractual and regulatory matters. He is also highly experienced in art law, with a focus on art finance and provenance-related disputes.

Kavan has also advised on numerous high-profile cases involving a variety of multinational banks, funds, and businesses. Kavan devises strategies for high-value commercial claims related to fraud, breach of contract, and breaches of representations and warranties in post-M&A transactions. His expertise extends to associated interlocutory applications, defamation claims, and obtaining injunctive relief.

  • Successfully advised Saudi National Bank, in relation to claims brought by a Cayman Islands Company, Saad Investments Company Limited (SICL) and its liquidators, that Samba knowingly received trust assets in part settlement of a client’s debts.
  • Successfully advised one of the world's leading consultancy firms in relation to a speedy trial, concerning a team move.
  • Successfully obtained freezing orders against various individuals who attempted to dissipate millions of pounds worth of assets from their creditor.
  • Acted for a renowned figure in the art industry concerning a joint venture dispute.
  • Advised in relation to various art financing matters.
