Holly Edmond

Associate

Personal Profile

Holly Edmond is an Associate in the Commercial Litigation team. She acts for and advises clients on English court proceedings and international arbitrations, often with multijurisdictional aspects, with experience across a range of areas spanning contentious construction, civil fraud and procurement law. She has experience of arbitrations under the DIAC rules, and disputes in the Dubai courts and Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), from her experience working in the Gulf region. Her practice has included work for a variety of clients, including those in the energy and healthcare sectors, and foreign states.

She has a particular interest in climate change and environmental litigation, which appears set to grow over the coming years in view of the greater responsibilities placed on governments and corporations alike to combat and mitigate the effects of climate change.

Key Experience

  • Acting for the Federal Republic of Nigeria in High Court proceedings challenging a US $10 billion arbitral award in favour of a BVI company arising from a failed gas project, on the basis that the underlying contract and the award itself were procured through fraud and corruption.
  • Acting for the government of an African state in successfully defending a US $650 million breach of contract arbitration claim from an American investor.
  • Acting for a Saudi Arabian investor in two concurrent ICC arbitration claims against a Malaysian oil and gas company and the government of a central Asian country for non-performance of a contract.
