Mishcon de Reya achieves top 32 ranking in the Social Mobility Employer Index 2024

Posted on 16 October 2024

Mishcon de Reya has been recognised for its outstanding commitment to social mobility, securing the 32nd spot in the Social Mobility Employer Index 2024. The firm has shown significant progress, climbing 20 places from its previous ranking, and marking its best position in the last five years.

The Social Mobility Employer Index, established by the Social Mobility Foundation, is a benchmarking initiative that assesses and promotes action to advance social mobility within the workplace. It is a gauge for employers to measure their efforts in making a more inclusive environment that offers equal opportunities for individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds.

This year, the Index drew participation from a diverse range of sectors, with Mishcon de Reya standing out amongst its peers for its proactive approach to fostering diversity and inclusion.

The firm's dedication to social mobility is outlined in its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy, which outlines clear objectives to create a level playing field in the legal profession.

Collaborations with organisations such as Bright Network, Rare Recruitment, Sutton Trust, Social Mobility Business Partnership, UpTree and Young Professionals have been instrumental in widening access to the legal sector for students and graduates from varied backgrounds.

Ed Hughes-Power, Partner and Social Mobility Committee Lead at Mishcon de Reya, expressed his pride in the firm's achievement: "We are thrilled to be recognised within the Top 32 Employers in the Social Mobility Employer Index this year. This ranking reflects our commitment to social mobility as a cornerstone of our EDI Strategy. Our goal is to ensure that every individual has the opportunity to succeed, irrespective of their socio-economic background. We are dedicated to dismantling the barriers that can hinder progress and to nurturing talent in a manner that affords everyone the chance to excel."
